Louisa Anna Bergey (nee Patterson) passed away at 7am on Friday morning, January 24th, 2020 at age 69. Louisa was predeceased by her parents Norman and Ernestine (nee Birkholz.) Louisa is survived by her daughter Louisa (Lou Ann) Bergey and many friends and chosen kin.
Louisa grew up in the far northeast section of Philadelphia and attended Lincoln high school. She worked at Sears, Kmart, and finally at Dietz and Watson. Along the way she grew from a shy wallflower to a vibrant and outgoing personality with an unforgettable laugh to match it.
She made hundreds of friends across the course of her life. Of the relationships in her life, the most influential ones were the ones she had with Russell Volz and the people she met through her employment at Dietz and Watson. Through them she had the greatest love of her life and experienced the close bond of the friendships she made during that time. Through Russ she experienced life as part of a large family and the bonds of kinship with Donna Gallagher (nee Volz,) Kathy (nee Volz,) and their children and grandchildren. Though her coworkers Dristeen, Agnes, Caroline, Debbie, Joyce, and many others she slowly started to bloom from the wallflower to the life of the party
Louisa was one of the centerpieces in the lives of her daughter's friends and wil always be remembered as a fun and lively person with a phenomenal sense of humor
She had many other close bonds of friendship through the course of her life. So many that, when she suffered a sudden and life altering traumatic brain injury ten years ago, all of those friends rallied to her side. It didn't matter if those friendships waned decades ago or were current at the time, everyone made their love known. Sadly, the recovery that was so fervently prayed for was not to be but the strength, support, and love of all those people, and from Dietz and Watson, and from Cannstatters enabled her daughter to make the best decisions possible during the worst time of their lives. Now, ten years later, she can finally be at peace.
Relatives and friends may attend the viewing services on Friday, January 31st at 11am at the Richardson Funeral Home 7450 Oxford Avenue. Service begins at 12:00am. Internment at Forest Hill Cemetery at 1pm
