Anita Evelyn Wene Schecter, 82, of Philadelphia, passed away suddenly on June 2, 2020.
She was born to the late Herman and Pearl Wene, on April 9, 1938, in Philadelphia. Anita attended Girls High School and later Temple University where she studied biology and cartography.
She married Edward Schecter on June 19, 1960, and they lived together in the Philadelphia area for their entire lives. Anita is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Edward, her four children: Laura Rawdin (Grant), Jennifer (Joseph Goldberg), Suzanne (Eric Callahan), and K. Mason (Liana Clark) and her five grandchildren; Aaron, Rachel, Madeline, Julia and Zara. She is also survived by her sister, Frances Collin and her brother, Jay Wene.
In addition to her family Anita had many interests including knitting sweaters and scarves for her children and grandchildren, weaving (she was a member of the Weaver’s Guild for several years), reading and walking in the park, but definitely not cooking. She had a green thumb for plants that cooperated with her, and a warm heart.
She was the glue that held together the many parts of her extended family and she will be sorely missed.
Funeral services were private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to The Jewish Federation and/or Planned Parenthood.
