John L. Schlachter, 40, passed away on Nov. 7, 2019, at Jefferson Hospital surrounded by his family and friends. John lived in Lansdale, PA with his wife, Lauren (Richter) of Bethlehem, PA, and their children, Jack and Julia. John was born in Philadelphia to Leonard and Diane Schlachter, and was a graduate of Northeast High School and Temple University.
John was an avid Philadelphia sports fan who had season tickets to the Phillies and Sixers and attended the Eagles Super Bowl victory parade, calling it the fourth best day of his life. For 15 years, John worked for Aetna, where he met his wife in 2007. John was also the lead singer of the band Stunned In Awe, covering songs by Stone Temple Pilots, Metallica , and the Foo Fighters. He recently began learning to play the guitar.
John was a wonderful and loving husband and father, and a devoted son. He was a loyal and supportive friend to countless people. He loved running fantasy leagues, hosting parties, and decorating for the holidays. Anyone who saw John’s house in December knew he earned the nickname “Captain Christmas.”
In addition to his wife, children, and parents, John is survived by his sister, Christy Harman, her husband, Michael, and their daughter, Haley; as well as nephew Adam Soldridge and niece Hayleigh Soldridge.
Relatives & friends may call on Friday from 9:00 at Calvary Presbyterian Church 405 N Easton Rd Willow Grove, PA 19090. Services 10:30am. Interment to follow at Lawnview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers....the family has requested donations to the attached link below.
