Obituary

Hugh Campbell age 85 – of Philadelphia, died peacefully on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at his residence accompanied by his loving wife.  The son of Mary (nee Mahony) and Hugh Campbell, Hugh was married to his wife of 56 years, Mary (nee McDonald), and they were parents of Dawn, Hugh, Keith and Peter. 

Hugh was born and raised in Astoria, NY. He joined the United States Air Force at the age of 19 and served his nation as a Radio Technician until honorably discharged in 1961 at the rank of Staff Sergeant. He settled in the Philadelphia area where he worked until his retirement in 1996. Hugh was an active member of the American Legion’s Walter L. Mason Post 152, serving as the post’s Adjutant for many years. Friends and family recall his wit, patience and love of his family. 

He was predeceased by his parents, and his brother Jerome.

Hugh is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary; his daughter Dawn, her husband Randy and their son Nicholas – all of Monee, IL; and his son Hugh, his wife Chris, and their children Hugh William and Marisa – all of Lakewood, OH; and sons Keith and Peter. He is also survived by his sister Ann O’Dea (nee Campbell), sister-in-law Margaret McDonald (nee Harkins).

Funeral Mass will be offered Tuesday morning at 10:00 am at Presentation B.V.M. Church, 100 Old Soldiers Road, Cheltenham, PA where friends may call from 9:00 am until the time of mass. A brief social will be held in the church’s lower hall immediately following the mass at 11:00 am. Burial will be at 1:30 pm at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.
